A Journey to Zero Waste Living

“Though She Be But Little, She Is Fierce!”

I’m a small girl on a big mission to help save the planet from the abundance of trash that society creates every single day. I’m here to show how you can live a simple and affordable zero waste lifestyle when armed with the right tools. Whether you want to make a few changes or embark on a lifestyle overhaul, I’m here to help you make the planet a cleaner, more beautiful place!

I began my journey to zero waste in January of 2016 when I discovered Bea Johnson’s book, Zero Waste Home. When I read that the average American adult produces 1.5 tons of waste per year, I HAD to get involved. My interest spread like wildfire, leading to a complete overhaul of the way I shopped, ate, and lived.

Jane + Simple is my little piece of real estate in the ever-growing blogosphere. I want this to be an inviting place for people to learn, grow, ask questions, and support one another as we work to build a more just and  sustainable economy. It is my hope to share the joy that zero waste brings me. Consuming as little as possible does not mean living an unfulfilling life!

My day job is as an Events Manager in Washington, D.C. I live across the state line in Virginia in an old white + yellow house with a lovely yard and 100-year old trees. I have a cat-dog named Gwen–she happens to be the best Craigslist purchase of all time! In my free time, you’ll find me globe trotting, frequenting farmers markets, sipping chai tea lattes, exploring local shops + restaurants, befriending stray cats, treasure hunting at thrift stores, learning the art of plant-based cooking, and cultivating my green(ish) thumb.
